Chretien, elected Prime Minister in 1993, rode a decade of
prosperity in Canada similar to that enjoyed by President Clinton in the
U.S. Gentle Canadians ignored his obvious inadequacies as long as
the good times rolled. Now in a time of readjustment and return to
realty, he is facing mounting opposition. Unfortunately for the
Canadian people, he still ruled at the time of decision to NOT
support a neighbor and historic ally. He and his leftist
government sided with France in opposition to the war on terrorism
by the U.S. led coalition. His failure is now Canada's
failure. While England, Australia, Spain, Portugal, Poland, and a
host of other allies enjoy the accolades of a grateful U.S. citizenry,
Canada will have to endure a few more years of Cretien
rule and several cold winters before forgiveness prevails south of the
border.
Most Canadians are pretty smart people as the next election will probably show. Because it is so cold in Canada, every thing moves slower, and it will take them a few more years to shed their leftist leaning government. Animal Farm is George Orwell's political fable, which examines allegorically the illusion and disillusion of a Utopian society. Wake up Canada. There ain't no free lunch and the best way to bring peace to the world is to kill the bad guys. At least keep them from coming to your shores.

There are people in Canada who do not espouse the leftist views of the elected government. Don't boycott Canada. Support our friends.
http://www.morefreedom.org/index.htm HISTORY LESSON FOR CULTURALLY DEPRIVED AMERICANS Canadians claim that the name "Canada" is an Iroquoian Indian word meaning "village". We don't buy that Hillary Clintonesque name. Rather we trust our Latin American brothers who know that it means "nothing here". When the early conquistadores arrived in Canada in the winter, they took one look, declared, "acá nada" and returned to warmer climes. Similarly the Portuguese concluded that cá não é nada - cá nada - nothing here. The French obviously found something that pleased them. We suspect that it had something to do with native women. The English stayed just to make sure that the French couldn't have it. Canadians think that they beat the Americans in the War of 1812. The U.S. has never had a war with Canada. The Republic of Canada does not exist. Canada is part of the British commonwealth. The U.S. started a war with England because England impressed more than 10,000 U.S. citizens into service on British ships. The U.S. fought England to a stalemate (status quo ante bellum) , secured a northern border, beat back the English in New Orleans, and eventually rebuilt the burned Capitol buildings. President Madison didn't want Canada. Remember, nothing there! The cousins, England and U.S., stopped the family quarrel and have cemented relations over almost two centuries. They even collectively saved the feckless French during two European wars. Canada gained more independence from Mother England through a series of Imperial Conferences (1919-1926) and is now admired as an independent nation able to achieve first world status in a harsh environment. Americans admire their Canadian cousins even though Canada's collective inferiority complex rivals that of Mexico.
Here are some links to show why Canada is not called the United Provinces of Canada. Although the 1995 Quebec separatist referendum was defeated by a narrow margin, deep divisions remain in tranquil Canada. Is it any wonder that they lack decisive leadership. Everything is a compromise. http://www-tech.mit.edu/V115/N51/sep.51w.html |
